Beast Burger serve delicious smash patty burgers on brioche buns with their signature homemade Beast Burger sauce and it has taken Freeman Street Market by storm. With over 7.5 thousand fans on Facebook in just over 1 year, it has become the best burger place in Grimsby.

Their journey began back in August 2019 when married couple Danny and Nickee Hall came to Freeman Street Market in search for a place to sell burgers. This was at the same time that the brand-new food court launched at the market, therefor it was a great addition and they were quick to jump on-board. Back before the launch Nickee said to the Grimsby Telegraph; “This is something that we had talked about doing for a while now, and the market has given us that opportunity to make a go of it, and we are hoping that this is something that will really take off.” And it is fair to say not only have they taken off, but they are flying high in success. Their new business quickly became a talking point and attracted a new breed of customers into the market. Freeman Street Market had been trying to attract a younger audience for years and Beast Burger along with the rest of the food court managed to achieve this.

One of the many reasons that Beast Burger attracted so many people, aside from their delicious burgers was the Beast Burger Challenge. It all started when one hungry customer asked for 4 patties in their burger plus 8 cheese slices and 6 rashers of bacon with the usual Beast Burger trimmings, which was finished by Mr Andy Cox and thus began the Andy Cox Challenge burger back in September 2019 which included 5 patties, 10 slices of cheese and 6 rashers of bacon. The deal was that if you can finish the burger then you can name it but each time it’s attempted everything inside the burger had to be more than the last to set a new record in order to win. Many attempted the challenge, but it took until October to become ‘The Matty Massey Challenge Burger’ setting the next level to 10 patties! Shockingly it was completed again just a month later where it became ‘The Big G burger’ named by Mr Graham Jarvis, meaning the next challenge was over 2lbs of beef. And to the surprise of many it was completed within just a few weeks by Stephen who cleverly named it ‘The Stephen tried and won Burger’. Meaning that once again the challenge had to be increased, setting the new limit to 12 patties.

A few attempted the challenge, but Stephen was left unbeaten until February 2020.

Word of the challenge had spread fast and soon caught the attention of YouTuber Adam Moran known as ‘BeardMeatsFood’ who has over 1 million subscribers. He travelled to Grimsby to attempt the challenge on the 25th of February and soon caused a crowd of people to stand by, watching him as he was determined to set the new record. Adam successfully finished 20 patties, 20 rashers of bacon and 40 slices of cheese in just 14 minutes! The burger was named ‘The Beard Burger’ and he hasn’t been beaten since. The challenge burger is still on the menu waiting for the next brave customer to set a brand-new record. Could it be named after you next?

There have been other challenges by Beast Burger including their attempt to create the world largest burger on Valentine’s day 2020. They successfully created an 18” giant beast burger for their customers to enjoy free samples, which included 5kg of beef supplied by Needham’s Butchers, 1.4kg of cheese and 40 rashers of bacon and it was all packed inside of a special bun made by Dennis at Hunts Bakery. This was part of their Valentine’s day celebrations on the market and they also offered customers the choice to eat their meal with a gorilla! (Yes, you read that right.) Team member ‘Gaz’ was in high spirit dressed as a gorilla ready to greet the customers and put a smile on peoples faces, aimed at those who were spending Valentine’s day alone.

Another challenge took place in August 2020 to celebrate their first birthday and this was ‘The Baby Beast Burger Challenge’. The rules were simple, in teams of 2, they had the opportunity to win £100, all they had to do was be the team to eat the most baby beast burgers in 10 minutes. Many attempted this fantastic challenge and commented on how much fun they had but there had to be a winner and the team that took the win successfully demolished 15 baby beast burgers!

Beast Burgers have a range of burgers on their menu including the biscoff burger, peanut butter chilli time burger and the 4x4 burger. They even have a chicken burger and a breakfast burger. Their business has been so successful that they opened at their second premises, The Kings Head on September 4th, 2020. This was met with a hugely positive response by their customers and now they are thriving in both locations.

As they look towards the future a new adventure awaits Beast Burger as they collaborate with The Greek Shack, opening a brand-new coffee shop on Freeman Street Market. They will be selling tea, cold coffee and barista coffee including mocha, cappuccino, lattes, plus options for vegans and much more. The coffee shop ‘Hydra’ named after a mythical Greek beast; did you see what they did there? Will open before the end of the year, there will be seating areas both inside and out for the customers to sit and enjoy their beverage or they can get their coffee to go. The inside seating area will include phone charging facilities and customers will be able to enjoy the food courts free Wi-Fi too.

If you haven’t been to Beast Burger yet listen to all 120 people that left 5-star reviews on their Facebook page. It is highly recommended by their customers whom some have said it’s the best burger they have ever had!
